SCHOLARSHIPS PROGRAMME

Sindh is province where young, talented and smart youth is in abundance but in many cases, a lack of resources stops them from reaching their full potential. This becomes increasingly difficult when it comes to gaining entrance to higher education. Sindh Government acknowledges this fact well and has entrusted Sindh Higher Education Commission with a task to assist meritorious and deserving students from both Public and Private Sector Universities through its Scholarships Programme.

Sindh Higher Education Commission has been awarding Scholarships to the Undergraduate Students in Private Sector Universities while also extending a hand of help to the students involved in Higher Education (MS / Mphil and PhD). These scholarships aim to improve students’ socioeconomic situation by providing opportunities for modern education and professional options for a brighter future. The data was collected from Public and Private Universities regarding the enrolled number of MPhil and PhD scholars. For the rationale, the total number of scholars was divided against the available number of scholarships (172) according to which one scholarship was available against each 172 scholars. However, at least one scholarship was awarded even to those universities where the enrolled number of MPhil / PhD scholars was less than 172.

During 2020-21, MS/M.Phil and PhD scholars of Public Universities were given 75 scholarships while Private Universities received 25 scholarships. A total of Rs. 25 million were given for needy and deserving students. In addition, Rs. 15 million were given to the Undergrad students of Private sector universities. A total of 275 students received this aid.

During FY 2021-22, around Rs. 40 million were awarded to Public and Private Universities as scholarship to the MPhil / PhD scholars. A total of 172 scholarships were awarded under this programme during the year. Number of scholarships awarded to the scholars of public and private universities stands as below:
